About

The Golf Course at Sand Hollow Resort offers one of Utah's most stunning golf experiences. Championship play meets the raw beauty of southern Utah's red rock landscape here. Additionally, this 18-hole course winds through dramatic sandstone formations and desert terrain. The backdrop is stunning. In fact, golfers often find themselves distracted from their game by the amazing views around nearly every hole.

Location and Reputation

Sand Hollow sits in Hurricane, about 20 minutes from Zion National Park's entrance. Furthermore, it has earned a reputation as a must-play destination for serious golfers. The course challenges players with smart hole designs that use the natural desert landscape. Moreover, elevated tees and greens provide sweeping views of the surrounding canyon country.

The back nine holes are especially famous for their spectacular settings. Red rock outcroppings frame fairways while distant mesas create an almost surreal playing environment.

Course Conditions and Amenities

While the views always earn praise, course conditions can vary based on the season and recent maintenance. Additionally, green fees reflect the premium experience. They typically cost more than other area courses. However, many golfers find the scenic payoff worth the price.

The facility offers all expected amenities:

  • Professional driving range

  • On-site dining options

  • Fully stocked pro shop

  • Friendly, helpful staff

Planning Your Visit

For travelers exploring southern Utah's national parks, Sand Hollow provides an unexpected sporting break. Indeed, it showcases the region's natural beauty from a different angle. The course works well as a half-day activity between park visits. As a result, both avid golfers and casual players get a chance to experience desert golf at its most scenic.

Those planning to play should book tee times well ahead. This is especially important during peak travel seasons. During these times, the course draws visitors from across the country who want to check this scenic gem off their golf bucket list.

8 of us played here last weekend for my bachelor party. There was a wedding in the clubhouse on the day we played. This meant that at the turn, you couldn't enter the clubhouse to use anything other than the pro shop or bathroom. No option to get food or drinks or even cool off for a minute. A sign said the "cafe" was open but there was no cafe! We found the drink cart lady out back near the clubhouse and she was completely out of food. We never saw the drink cart again the entire back 9. We were all hungry and would have loved some beverages! For $280 a round, I would have expected much better service. Dissapointing.

Played this course on our recent trip to Utah and this was by far my favorite track. My experience with the staff was excellent. We ate at the restaurant prior to and after the round and the food was excellent. The carts were equipped with GPS and gave the option to have a sun shade on them which was a unique touch. The course conditions were excellent. Fairways were plush and the greens rolled true. The bunkers are not your traditional sand bunkers, but as far as I am concerned this is part of the challenge of playing a different style of course. I would definitely recommend including this course as part of your golf trip if you are in the area.

Amazing course in great condition. I went out to play yesterday afternoon knowing the greens had been punched a couple days before. The course was in great shape with the exception of I believe hole 17 that needed some work in the fairways. Back 9 is special and nothing really like it. The gentleman at the pro shop let me start on the back 9 to avoid being backed up on the front and the pace of play was amazing so thanks to him!

This is personally the best course I’ve ever played. The back nine is debatably the best stretch of holes in the country. Anyone that gave this less than 5 stars doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It’s so beautiful, will definitely be back!
