About

The Spotted Dog brings refined American dining to Springdale with a menu that changes with the seasons and a wine cellar that draws oenophiles from across southern Utah. The restaurant occupies a bright, airy space that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, making it a popular choice for special occasions and memorable meals after a day exploring Zion's red rock wonders.

The kitchen focuses on well-executed American classics with seasonal touches. Steaks, fresh salads, and house-made pasta dishes anchor a menu that emphasizes quality ingredients and careful preparation. The wine program is particularly noteworthy, with a cellar selection that ranges from accessible favorites to rare vintages that pair beautifully with the chef's creations. Cocktails receive similar attention, crafted with precision to complement the dining experience.

Service at the Spotted Dog aims for attentive professionalism, though experiences can vary during peak season when Springdale swells with Zion visitors. The atmosphere strikes a balance between upscale and approachable, making it equally suitable for anniversary dinners or post-hike celebrations with friends.

Located in Springdale just minutes from Zion National Park's entrance, the restaurant serves as a culinary anchor for the gateway community. While there are more casual options nearby for quick meals between adventures, the Spotted Dog offers something different: a chance to slow down, savor thoughtfully prepared food, and perhaps discover a new favorite wine while recounting the day's canyon explorations.

We had our anniversary dinner here and it was so lovely! We sat outside on the patio, and the view of the mountains is amazing. Service from all staff was top notch, and our waitress was very attentive (sadly I can’t recall her name). We ordered the mushroom appetizer and it was so flavorful. I ordered the salmon entree, and it was so fresh and baked to perfection. The sauce and the vegetables it came with were also the perfect pairing. We will definitely be coming back!

Tourist Trap Alert! Watch out for this restaurant! We just had dinner here. The meatloaf was $29 (which is clearly listed on the menu), but we were charged a staggering $65 for the Lamb Shank. The waitress recommended it as a "daily special" but never bothered to mention the price. However, if you check their previous menus and photos from 6 months or a year ago, this dish used to be on the regular menu for a much lower price. In this area, a dish like this usually runs between $29 and $35. The food tasted good, but it is nowhere near worth $65. For that price, the restaurant should have a Michelin star, and they should have hunted the lamb right in front of us. It’s okay to try once, but we will definitely not be returning. We are Spaniards who have been living in America for years, and honestly: if you want to experience an incredible, authentic lamb roast with a great glass of wine, go to Burgos or La Rioja in Spain, but don’t come here. If you still decide to visit this restaurant, do yourself a favor and stick to what is explicitly printed on the menu so the waitress (Maureen) doesn’t just make up the price! 😂

I ordered the burger with fries. The fries were pretty good, the burger was bland and had no sizzle. Almost seemed like it was pre-cooked or something, which would make sense because it only comes how they serve it, i.e. not cooked to order. My wife ordered the purse pasta, which was not bad, but not great. The portion size was also much smaller than expected. The restaurant seemd like it was trying to be high end, but it was definitely not that.

Great dinner experience. Very friendly service. Expansive wine list and good beers on tap. Nice casual atmosphere and staff were very helpful with tips on the menu and local things to do. Trout was exceptional. Chicken cooked very well. Highly recommended for anyone staying in Springdale

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Meal of Our Utah Mighty Five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Meal of Our Utah Mighty Five Trip! The Spotted Dog in Springdale was absolutely outstanding and easily the best meal we had during our entire trip through Utah’s Mighty Five National Parks. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our waitress, Maureen, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and she made an already wonderful dinner even better. The food and cocktails were truly top-notch. I started with the Prickly Pear Margarita, and it was out of this world—one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a long time. We shared the Brie appetizer with fruit chutney, which was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. For dinner, my husband ordered the meatloaf and raved about it. I had the mussels with linguine, and they were phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, perfectly prepared, and a dish I would order again in a heartbeat. We were far too full to even entertain dessert, although after everything else we had, I’m sure we missed out! After traveling throughout Utah and dining near all five of the Mighty Five National Parks, The Spotted Dog was the standout meal of our entire trip. Excellent service, high-quality food, creative cocktails, and a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. If you’re visiting Zion or staying in Springdale, The Spotted Dog is absolutely worth putting on your must-visit list. We would go back without hesitation!
