Oscar’s is probably the most popular restaurant in Springdale, Utah, making it known amongst hikers of Zion. There’s always a long line up whenever I pass by this place. They serve Tex-Mex cuisine, as well as burgers, sandwiches and more. I went here for breakfast every day before going to hike. I tried:
Belgian Waffle Combo $18
Belgian waffles served with scrambled eggs and your choice of: ham, bacon, or sausage.
French Toast Combo $18
Two slices of French Toast dipped in Frosted Flakes served with two scrambled eggs and your choice of: ham, bacon, or sausage patty.
Green Chili Horseshoe $18
Seasoned potatoes baked in a bowl with cheese and topped with shredded pork, Oscars Verde sauce, Eggs any style, guacamole, and sour cream.
Served with your choice of toast.
Huevos Rancheros $14 + Bacon $4
Drinks are $3.50, coffee is $3.25. Got apple juice, raspberry lemonade, root beer and coffee. Coffee was pretty bad and watered down; I suggest getting another drink.
In my opinion, the classic brunch items tasted better than the Tex-Mex ones. I liked the French toast a lot, but my favourite would be the Belgian waffles; the top of the waffle grids had a nice caramelized taste and texture. The meat selections were good too; my favourite is the ham.
Excellent dinner after our first day in Zion! The portions are huge, so come hungry. I ordered the Murder Burger and it absolutely lived up to the name, one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. A+. My son had the Philly cheesesteak and I had a bite - really enjoyed it too.
Our waitress wasn’t the friendliest, but the outstanding food more than made up for it. Great atmosphere, generous portions (seriously huge), and a perfect place to refuel after hiking. We’d definitely come back the next time we’re in Springdale.
From the moment we approached, the staff were friendly and inviting. Waiting for a table, a couple locals told us the food was great and the portions giant - turns out both were true! Being a larger party we sat inside but the outdoor tables looked like more fun (and had more attentive service too). For food we tried nachos, the pesto quesadilla, shrimp tacos and the green chili tamales. There were no complaints around the table at all and yes, the plates were giant. For instance, while the tamales were tasty, they went overboard by laying them on a bed of juicy pulled pork. The quesadilla, while it could have used more pesto, was the size of a manhole cover. The nachos were Sasquatch-ready for sure.
When visiting a new place, we often seek out locally owned places. Sure the national chains are dependable and predictable - but you trade away the chance to be wowed. Oscar's was a wow - and their attached vintage store was adorable too.
Great stop after a day in Zion! We ordered a solid spread — a juicy burger with melty cheese, kids’ mac and cheese with crinkle-cut fries, a big plate of crispy sweet potato fries, a smothered green chile burrito loaded with sour cream, and a massive plate of loaded nachos with black beans, jalapeños, cotija, and fresh guac.
Everything came out hot, generous portions, and the flavors were spot-on — the green chile sauce on the burrito was a standout. Great casual spot with a patio feel, friendly service, and portions big enough to share. Perfect refuel after hiking Angels Landing or the Narrows.
Will definitely be back next time we’re in Springdale!
After a bad meal at Scout's Bar and Grill we gave Oscar's a try for breakfast before hiking. Holy cow it was good. Amazing burritos! We came back for supper and it did not disappoint! A burger so good and flavorful it was like it was melting in your mouth. If we were staying in Zion longer we would eat here every time knowing the food is good and menu is plentiful! Also has fair prices for a tourist town, cheaper than Scout's.
