About

The Painted Pony brings serious culinary ambition to St. George's dining scene. Chef-driven Southwestern cuisine meets contemporary technique here, with dishes like curry mussels, duck confit, and bison tenderloin rotating through seasonal menus. The kitchen takes creative risks that mostly pay off, crafting plates that look as good as they taste.

The dining room feels like eating inside an art gallery. Local artwork covers the walls, creating conversation starters between courses. The patio offers mountain views and cooler evening temperatures when the desert heat breaks. Both spaces strike that sweet spot between upscale and approachable.

Wine lovers will appreciate the thoughtful selection that pairs well with the bold flavors coming from the kitchen. The bar program extends beyond wine with craft cocktails that complement the Southwestern theme. Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend dinners when locals and visitors alike pack the place.

This makes a perfect special occasion spot during a southern Utah trip. The drive from Zion takes about 45 minutes, making it an easy evening out from Springdale or Hurricane. St. George offers plenty to explore during the day before settling in for dinner at one of the region's more ambitious restaurants.

This was the first place I decided to eat at on my trip to St George, Utah and it did not disappoint. The wait staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The cocktail menu is impressive and the food is superb. Their menu is seasonal and often they have a dish just on a particular day. It's a little pricey, but if you're on vacation like I was, you shouldn't quibble over treating yourself. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the food or the service. I ate lunch there twice and I truly regret not going during dinner hours because it would have been an elevated experience based on what I saw. Parking near there might be a pain, but my hotel was so close I walked there (1 and half blocks) which was a good thing because there's so much beauty to see in the town and lots of interesting shops and museums near Ancestor Square where the restaurant is located. If I ever get lucky enough to end up back in St George is will absolutely go back.

We had a wonderful romantic dinner at Painted Pint for my birthday. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. The service was attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and perfect for a special occasion. Thank you for helping make my birthday celebration so memorable. We will definitely be back!

Wow what an outstanding experience. The food is absolutely incredible with such unique flavors. We went for my birthday and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing and we felt well taken care of. I do love the goblets they give you for your water as I felt a little in the Game of Thrones 😉. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We showed up (party of 2) with no reservation and they were kind enough to find us a table on the patio. The outside was a bit hot but we managed. We had the cooked brie, French onion soup, beef tenderloin, and ribeye. The brie with garlic and cranberry was quite interesting combination, the soup was excellent, but most importantly each meat dish was perfect. I was worried but some other reviews that the steak would be cooked incorrectly and when I sliced in the beginning it was a little more well than I expected, but the center was still medium and the taste was amazing, so no complaints. This is definitely a high-end experience, so expect 10-17$ for starters and 47-69$ for mains, and drinks are of course added cost. If you are on a budget and still want to feel full I think the ribeye is a good value.

We stopped here for lunch while driving from Las Vegas to Bryce Canyon, and it was the highlight of our trip so far! The Ahi Tuna Tower was as gorgeous as it was delicious, and the bacon-wrapped stuffed dates (with Gruyère substituted for the blue cheese) were phenomenal. Washing it down with a crisp glass of Gruet Brut Rosé was the perfect touch. Excellent service, great presentation, and a wonderful atmosphere. It turns out Gemini recommended this spot to us, and it absolutely nailed it!
