Under Canvas Zion

Safari-style glamping with wood-burning stoves and en suite bathrooms for a luxurious outdoor experience

About

Under Canvas brings the romance of African safari camps to the red rock country of southern Utah. This glamping resort transforms the camping experience with spacious canvas tents that feature real beds, private bathrooms, and wood-burning stoves that keep things cozy even on chilly desert nights. It's camping reimagined for those who want to fall asleep to the sounds of nature without sacrificing comfort.

The property strikes a balance between outdoor adventure and resort amenities. Each safari-style tent comes equipped with its own bathroom, eliminating midnight walks to shared facilities. The on-site restaurant means guests can enjoy a proper meal without leaving the property, while morning yoga classes offer a peaceful way to start the day before heading into the parks. The staff consistently earns praise for their warm hospitality, from the welcoming check-in experience to thoughtful touches like placing wedding gift bags in guest tents.

Located in Virgin, the resort sits perfectly positioned for exploring Zion National Park, just a short drive from the park entrance. The setting offers stunning views of the surrounding red rock formations while maintaining a sense of seclusion from the busier areas around Springdale. This makes it an ideal base camp for park visitors who want to experience the magic of sleeping under canvas and stars while still enjoying hot showers and comfortable beds after a day of hiking Angels Landing or wading through The Narrows.

While the glamping concept comes at a premium price point, Under Canvas offers something unique in the Zion lodging landscape. It's particularly well-suited for special occasions, romantic getaways, or families wanting to introduce children to camping without the typical hassles of tent setup and camp cooking.

We stayed one night at Under Canvas Zion. Beautiful views, wonderful weather and quiet! They provide everything you need from coolers with ice to charger adapters. The staff was kind and helpful. The food was definitely way overpriced and overrated in my opinion. We checked in later in the evening and could’ve eaten in town before we drove out BUT the views are unbeatable and it’s part of the experience. Our $7+ chai tea lattes were cold right when they were handed to us and, I’m not kidding, 99% milk. Free s’mores though! All in all my only grievance was the food and it definitely wasn’t a deal breaker. We plan on visiting other Under Canvas locations soon!

Second time at an Under canvas and love it. Super comfortable while being really close to nature. And other guests are friendly and chill, especially over s’mores by the many fire pits.

This is my second under canvas, the first was Grand Canyon and now Zion. Both times I feel like the concept and location are incredible. The food is OK, but the service has always been lacking. Some of the staff were rude during check-in and meal times. The manager was open and apologetic, but the damage had already been done. I’ve had better service at one and two star hotels. I don’t understand how you screw things up this badly.

Under Canvas Zion was perfect for us. We usually "camp", and this was certainly a treat to have our tent ready and all the accommodations of home at the same time! The staff was also very knowledgeable about the trails that would work well for us in Zion Park. Thank you for providing a unique experience for us!
