About

Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort sprawls across 4,000 acres of private wilderness on the eastern boundary of Zion National Park. This expansive property offers everything from cozy cabins and covered wagons to full vacation homes, creating a basecamp for families and adventure seekers exploring the park's less-traveled east side. The resort's unique location provides direct access to hiking trails and viewpoints that most Zion visitors never experience.

The accommodations range widely to suit different travel styles and budgets. Families might choose a multi-bedroom vacation rental with full kitchens and living spaces, while couples seeking simplicity can opt for rustic cabins or even covered wagons for a taste of pioneer life. The property also welcomes RVs and tent campers, making it one of the most versatile lodging options near Zion. Each accommodation type provides access to the resort's extensive activity offerings and facilities.

What sets Zion Ponderosa apart is its adventure programming. The resort operates its own climbing wall, zip lines, and ropes courses, along with guided activities like canyoneering, rock climbing, and horseback riding. Families particularly appreciate the swimming pool, tennis courts, and organized activities that keep children engaged between park excursions. The on-site restaurant and general store add convenience for guests staying multiple nights.

Located in Orderville, about 15 miles from Zion's main entrance, the resort offers a different perspective on the park. Guests here explore the quieter east side trails and can easily visit nearby attractions like Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and the scenic backroads leading to Bryce Canyon. This location makes it an ideal base for travelers wanting to experience multiple parks while enjoying resort amenities and guided adventures each evening.

I stayed here at a tent site just in a van and was only planning on staying a night then leaving but I thoroughly enjoyed it so I stayed a second night. It was extremely reasonably priced and even cheaper the second night!! Offered clean bathrooms, a pool/ hot tub open late hours, and an adorable eatery that served local beer. There’s plenty more so those staying longer or with families as well. Staff was so polite and helpful if I’m ever in the Zion area I will be there again!!! Very close to Zion and the Springdale area.

Short story short I would go again. But I have an experience to share so buckle up. This is our 2nd time here and the first time was 2 years ago and everything was great. This time around we booked 4 nights for tent camping and we ended up doing 3 nights of camping because I was woken up at 4am to noise outside our tent. I first thought it was my husband just leaving the tent to go to the bathroom but then I looked over and he was still bed. So then I thought maybe a neighbor was walking across our area to get to the bathroom ( keep in mind we are not right near the bathroom) we stayed on campsite 10. With all of this running through my mind I was awake and alert trying to figure out what was outside. It sounded like it was then walking away. And then I hear 3 BIG growls! 🐻!! Followed by a women screaming/ shouting and exactly what you are supposed to do when you encounter a bear. I think she scared the bear right back to our campsite and that’s when I woke up my husband and we couldn’t fall back to sleep. We ended up getting the tiny home on the resort for the last night and it definitely brought peace of mind with a better night sleep. However, it needed to be cleaned properly. The towels seemed dirty, there were hair balls on the floor, and I found a hair on the pillow. I was too tired and all of this seemed so small compared to the bear but it does need to be addressed. In the morning there was also yet another surprise. Keep in mind check out is at 10am for the tiny homes and around 7/7:30am someone opens our locked door and comes into our tiny home and then my husband goes out to the living room area and the person runs off and drives away in their golf cart so fast!! We are thinking it was a worker since they were able to get in and must have had the code. I’m thankful we were awake but we were still in bed. Now the pros and suggestions: All the campsites were clean and well maintained but, I think the resort will benefit from adding proper bear precautions such as a bear proof trash. The campsite bathrooms were also well maintained. We loved the amenities such as the pool and food options. We saw other campsites in Zion and they had no shade because of the lack of trees and keep in mind it gets up to 100 degrees. So we loved how this place was in the mountains and had shade. I also highly suggest doing the mini golf! Don’t let the 3 star rating deter you from coming because it was still fun but changes do still need to happen. I hope this post is seen as areas to work on for the resort and precautions for the guest.

We stayed in middle of June 2026. Pictures on your website are deceiving!!! They look better on photos than in person. You guys advertise like your resort is so new and clean and it’s total opposite. The facility is old, no upkeep, pool and jacuzzi are dirty and unappealing. Why don’t you state on website that only one pool is working and that your water lines are dirty? The water smells and was so uncomfortable taking a shower. We were looking forward to swimming and couldn’t even swim, and they told us they drained one of the pools. The only Pool that had water was green! Why would they do this in the summer! The miniature golf is old, weeds everywhere around park, no maintenance. Basketball court is so old and someone could get hurt playing basketball as there are cracks everywhere on court. When we booked reservation we specifically asked to have site next to our family that was traveling with us. When we checked in they did not place us in sites next to each other. We finally got sites next to each other, but wasted an hour checking in. The older lady at check-in was rude and very agitated. There was no shade in the Rv sites, all dirt, people don’t respect the 5 mph courtesy speed rule, every time a car drove by we would get dust and dirt in our site. You guys overcharge for the jeep tours and horseback riding. The only benefit to your park was being close to Zion national Park. So disappointed. We will not go back.

Our glamping and deluxe glamping tents were clean and comfortable. This was my first glamping experience and it lived up to expectations. I could have used more private patio space - the deluxe tents face each other so you are somewhat obligated to make friends with neighbors. My kids loved this, but I was tired and would have liked some privacy. The pool here was so much fun and the hamburgers were delicious, although other food was mostly average. There was so much to do, you could stay many nights and not be bored. The drive is about 45 minutes to Zion, making it less convenient to access, and there is no reception on the drive. We still spent plenty of time in the park, just know that you won’t be going back and forth. Overall Ponderosa Ranch was a refreshing alternative to the other places we stayed on our national park vacation and I would return.

A great location away from the crowds of Zion. The pools are nice, hot tubs are a plus. The mini putt is a good course and cheap, especially if you play a few times and grab the unlimited pass. Food is available at the resort, though it isn't super flavorful. They just need to watch the details and this place would be a 5.
